National Packaging Award 2018

Universal security closure

Winning proposal of the IX edition of the National Packaging Awards.

It is a closure system that makes it difficult to open for children, but easy to open for the elders. It consists of two tabs that unlock the cap while pressing them.

Different deformation studies were carried out with SolidWorks, adjusting the design. Studies with the average strength that can be done by people older than 80 years and by children up to 4 years old.

The original design consisted of two separate pieces, but I decided to simplify it into one piece. The design gained in aesthetics and functionality, but lost strength in terms of mass production.
